behind the name

i'm not sure where it came from, but my father has been calling me "sqwessie" for as long as i can remember, but i'm not complaining - it's our special thing. 

before i established my business, i knew i  wanted to make sure the name of my studio meant something to me. my mom had just opened a very small sugar-cookie decorating business named “cutesix’s cookies“, which conveniently was a different nickname given to me by my eldest brother. so, i took that idea and went with it! 

i knew “sqwessie” was going to be the forefront of my business name, and for alliteration, i chose the word "sketches," thus birthing "sqwessie sketches art studio" into the world.  t! 

if you are an artist, photographer, etc. you know you have to have a basic sketch, be it in the mind or on paper before you start, so that is why “sketches” was so perfect.
